Farmer's markets are a fantastic way to support local community members and buy fresh and organic produce. They are such a fantastic way to teach your family where food comes from, and the different local food grown in your area.

Farmers markets are usually held every weekend or every fortnight depending on your location. To find out what farmers markets are in your area visit your local council website.

Tip 1:

Take your own basket or re-useable bag.

Tip 2:

You probably want to get to the market early to pick up sought-after produce before it goes. Unlike a supermarket, there is not an endless supply in the freezer out the back, it's all fresh. In contrary, late shopping has its benefits too. As the market day approaches its finish, many stalls with extra produce will pass off the goods at bargain/reduced prices.

Tip 3:

Have cash on hand. Although many stalls these days have eftpos, others will only accept cash. I suggest taking atleast $25. Also, some stalls will not accept card for purchases under $10
